Paris post-lockdown: The places you need to visit

With restrictions beginning to safely lift across Europe, now is the perfect time to experience the beauty of Paris, as even the best-known monuments appear to be off the beaten track - you’ll truly experience the city in ways you never have before. Whether it be visiting a popular attraction, or simply walking along the now beautifully deserted Seine, the magic of the city has never seemed more in our reach. If you happen to be in Paris during this time or are planning a trip in the near future, here are our tips on the places you should visit to make the most of the city this summer.  

Opéra

The Espace Lafayette Drouot is open once again in Paris, and we definitely recommend you pay a visit. Any fans of Banksy will be pleased to learn of the immersive experience dedicated to the British artist, running until the end of the year. Have a look at their website for yourself, online booking recommended. 

While you’re in the area, you’re in walking distance of L’Opéra Comique, one of our favourite Parisian venues. Check out what they have to offer in the upcoming months on their website. 

If opera inspires you, you’re also not too far from the Opéra Garnier, one of our partner theatres. While their season won’t be restarting until 2021, it’s a fascinating venue to visit, and even have a tour of. Have a look at their website for more information.

Marais/Île St. Louis

As of May, the Lafayette Anticipations Foundation is also open in Paris. The safety measures in place, including a maximum of six visitors in a group and mandatory masks, make for a safe and secure visit to this enchanting location. With tours for both adults and kids, there’s something for the whole family.

The Lafayette Anticipations Foundation is just a stone’s throw away from one of our favourite spots in Paris: Sainte-Chappelle, yet another venue we’re proud partners of. Keep your eyes peeled for tickets to their scintillating concert series.

It may be a little walk away, but we recommend paying a visit to the Giacometti Foundation, yet another Parisian venue that has recently re-opened, and to appealingly small crowds! From the 4th July, there’s a Walking Man exhibition that you don’t want to miss, as well as plenty of other lectures and tours to be attended.

Grenelle

The Quai Branly Museum is also opening its doors to visitors once again in Paris, with a plethora of new exhibitions gracing the scene this summer. From French photography to non-European sculptures, the Quai Branly is famed for showcasing talent from all four corners of the globe.

Just around the corner, you’ve got none other than the Eiffel Tower, Paris’ most prized monument that has recently reopened after 100 days of closure. What better time than now to take a trip to the top of the tower and see Paris at its most beautiful? After its period of closure, the monument has seen fewer tourists than ever, meaning the time is now to have it all to yourself. We’re such fans of the Eiffel Tower that we’ve even partnered with them in the past to even bring an Eiffel Tower Concert Series, offering music from the monument itself.

Latin Quarter

If you’re wanting to experience the great outdoors this summer, take a trip to the Ménagerie du Jardin des Plantes.This tranquil zoo will transport you to another world. Observe and immerse yourself in nature, with a new serenity hitherto unknown to this otherwise booming attraction. A popular nearby attraction is the Shakespeare and Co. bookshop, a short walk away along the now tranquil Seine. Travel back in time and see this enchanting bookshop as you never have before, now more than ever, it’s an absolute must-visit!

Trocadéro

You can’t visit Paris without taking a trip to the beautiful Arc de Triomphe, the views of which are now bound to give you an image of Paris never before seen in the flesh! Study the veins of the city from this monumental standpoint and soak it all up.

While you’re in the area, the Crazy Horse Cabaret is a quick walk away, be sure to look into tickets for one of Paris’ most adored cabarets. 

Montmartre

Montmartre is one of our favourite neighbourhoods in Paris, and now is a wonderful time to visit! The Museum of Romantic Life seems to sum up the feeling of summer in Paris perfectly, and it’s certainly a place of which you should take advantage during this period of lulled tourism. This literary hub is perfect for any bookworms, or hopeless romantics. Learn about the life of George Sand and immerse every sense in this wonderful new world.
