History and Fun Facts about the Jacquemart-André Museum

On the bustling boulevard Hausmann is an incredible haven of peace, a 19th century "grand bourgeois" residence that has been turned into a museum by preserving the original layout. Like the Wallace Collection in London or the Frick Collection in New York, Paris can surely boast about a museum such as the Jacquemart-André Museum!

This beautiful and luxurious mansion was once the home of Edouard André, heir to one of the largest fortunes of the Second Empire, and his wife Nélie Jacquemart, a young painter. The two of them assembled a collection that would make any art lover go crazy. From Bellini to Fragonard, via Van Dyck, Houdon, Nattier, Mantegna, Rembrandt, Reynolds, Canaletto, van Ruisdael, Vigée-Lebrun... All the finest artists of the classics are here.

A museum since 1913, this magnificent building is hosting exceptional exhibitions devoted to artists such as Johann Heinrich Füssli, Svend Hammershoï, and Sandro Botticelli, as well as high-quality musical evenings… of which Theatre in Paris is now an official partner! With only a handful of invitations accepted per night, take advantage of this truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see a show in the famous Jacquemart-André Museum!
