Notre-Dame-des-Blancs-Manteaux Church
Église Notre-Dame-des-Blancs-Manteaux
Nestled in the narrow streets of the 4th arrondissement of Paris, the Church of the Blancs-Manteaux was built in the 17th century on the site of the monastery of Blancs-Manteaux, which was erected in the 13th century by the Order of the Servants of the Blessed Virgin. The priests who officiate there today are members of the Saint Martin's Community. Today, you can hear beautiful concerts in which the scores of Bach or Pachelbel are played.
Catherine Ruzé, Louis Allegrain, Clérambault de Champagne, Jérôme de Hacqueville, Jean de Paris... If you are wondering who these people are, you have not yet visited the Church of Notre-Dame-des-Blancs-Manteaux. They are all buried there. The church has Flemish origin and is classified as a national heritage site, decorated with marquetry panels and inlaid with mother-of-pearl. There is also a beautiful painting by Joachim von Sandrart on the right as you enter the Chapel of the Virgin. It is impossible to miss the German-style organ with 3 manuals and 42 stops built by the organ builder Kern. Without a doubt it is one of the most interesting religious buildings in Paris.
