Highlights: Ma version de l'histoire

The exceptional creator of previous theatrical hits such as Around the World in 80 Days, Mission Florimont, Dernier coup de ciseaux, and L’embarras du choice dazzles us once more with this, his hugely anticipated new release…
Sébastien Azzopardi throws back the curtain at the Théâtre Michel for a story saturated with scandal, sensation, and subjectivism... Ma version de l’histoire! Directly translating to "my side of the story", this sparkling new show presents us with a couple who, after two decades of cohabitation, reveal two completely different versions of the story of their shared life… an evening of comic revelations!

Story: Ma version de l'histoire

Step into the Théâtre Michel to witness the story of Valentine and Sam - or should that be stories...? After twenty years together, the couple venture into the uncharted waters of couples therapy, wherein they discover that they each have a totally different view of the past two decades.

Sam, stuck in his ways, wonders if all of their problems could be solved with a bit of TV binging and a frozen pizza. Valentine, on the other hand, is convinced that therapy is the answer to their problems, spinning her anecdotes as if she were the star of a saucy soap opera. The two clash as one attempts to refute the other by ‘setting the record straight’ - subjectively, of course.

There is no crash-course nor all-answering instruction manual for the adventure that is marriage. In Ma version de l’histoire, it’s up to you to play judge and jury with a smile on your face - a fictional farce that will leave you giggling!

History and Fun Facts about the Théâtre Michel

Don't be fooled by the venue's unimposing exterior, the delightful Italian style auditorium of the Théâtre Michel is sure to seduce at first sight! Built in the early 20th century, the theatre fell victim to the flood that struck Paris in 1910 just a few years after opening, leaving the first level completely submerged. But the Théâtre Michel was not to be stopped, and soon overcame its early troubles to become a celebrated name in the international arts scene.

This charming theatre, complete with pediments resembling Greek temples, has been managed over recent decades by Marc Camoletti. According to the Guinness Book of Records, Camoletti's brilliant comedy of errors, Boeing Boeing, is the most performed French play in the world, counting over 18,000 performances in more than 20 countries, and was made famous on screen by Tony Curtis in the 1960s. Not such a minor theatre after all!

Fun fact

The Théâtre Michel was the very first venue to hold a subtitled performance with Theatre in Paris back in 2014!
