HIGHLIGHTS: HAVE A GOOD DAY!

Have a Good Day! is a rather surprising opera that we invite you to discover at the Théâtre du Rond-Point in Paris. Created by the Lithuanian collective Operomanija, this original show features ten supermarket cashiers singing about the joys and frustrations of their daily lives.

On stage, ten cashiers, dressed in blue aprons, scan items and sing phrases repeated over and over: "Good morning", "Thank you", "Have a nice day". Their voices rise up in an ironic and poetic symphony, punctuated by the beeping of scanners and the background noise of a busy supermarket.

Have a Good Day! is not just an opera, it's also a subtle, gritty social satire that examines the dehumanisation of work in a consumer society, where individuals are reduced to automatons repeating the same gestures and phrases.

Despite the harshness of their daily lives, the cashiers in Have a Good Day! show great resilience and humour, using song as a way of reclaiming their voice and denouncing the difficult working conditions they endure.

Have a Good Day! is a unique and subversive show that is sure to leave a lasting impression. With its dark humour, poetry and social dimension, this opera offers a poignant reflection on the modern world and the place of the individual in society.

After this show, it's a safe bet that you'll view the whole world around you differently, especially your neighbourhood supermarket.

History and Fun Facts about Théâtre du Rond-Point

If you ever want to feel the pulse of the French theatre scene, the Théâtre du Rond-Point is the place to be! But which roundabout or "rond-point" is it exactly? It's one of the most famous roundabouts in Paris, located near the Champs-Elysées, smaller than the famous Etoile roundabout under the Arc de Triomphe. Since 1981, it has attracted a host of directors from all over the world and a host of people with a passion for theatre. A major venue for contemporary creation since 1991, the Rond-Point does not programme "what people like, but what they don't yet know they like", according to Jean-Michel Ribes, the theatre's former director. Since 2023, Laurence de Magalhaes and Stéphane Ricordel have taken over the reins of this theatre, which is still rooted in contemporary creation and focuses on living authors.
